Greg Nelson

Greg Nelson helped change what top-level team freestyle could look like. Active in footbag since the mid-1980s, he won five World Team Freestyle titles and seven World Mixed Doubles Freestyle titles, while also reaching an extraordinary fourteen consecutive World Singles Freestyle finals. Together with Jay Moldenhauer, he raised the level of men’s doubles and team freestyle in ways that reshaped expectations for the event. Nelson was also a teacher and performer, making him one of the players who combined elite competition with bringing the sport to new people.
