Jerry Cunningham
Jerry Cunningham was one of the original tour-team specialists and one of the important early net players. He and Craig Hufford won one of the first major doubles net championships in 1979, and he later won the first eight-foot net championships in Portland. Cunningham was remembered as a powerful presence on court, a “Hulk of a man,” and one of the players who lived the realities of early touring footbag, down to surviving on peanut butter and jelly sandwiches on the road. His Hall of Fame place reflects competition and foundational tour-team work.
