Miquel Clemente
Miquel began playing footbag in the 1990s and became a key figure in promoting the sport starting in 1998, coinciding with the Soccer World Championships held in France that year. During this highly publicized event, he organized multiple footbag shows and workshops, helping to showcase the activity to a broader audience. Adidas even created special "Alexi Lalas" footbags / hacky sacks specifically for the occasion.
This marked a revival of footbag culture in France. Miquel dedicated himself to organizing numerous promotional events, including the inaugural Open de France de Footbag in 1999, along with several other tournaments over the years. He worked relentlessly to showcase footbag at fairs and public gatherings.
In 2000, he was a founding member of the French Footbag Association and later went on to serve as its President for several years.
When Miquel competed in Net, he played to an excellent standard consistently, with many gold and silver medals in European events. But it is due to his energetic contributions to event and club organization that he was voted into the Footbag Hall of Fame in 2026.
