Yves Archambault
Yves Archambault started to play footbag in 1981. In the following year, he launched the AKI trademark in Quebec, a province of Canada. Then, in 1985, he went to his first tournament in Colorado. That is when he discovered Footbag Net. He then practiced frantically to get better and eventually win a World Championship.
That same year, he launched the Pro Kicker trademark. He finally attained his goal with a doubles win at the 2001 World Footbag Championships.
He added another in 2003, as well as showing durability by winning at least one open title for 20 years in a row, from 1989 to 2008.
His last open footbag tournament was the 2021 Akisphere in Montreal.
As an organizer and promoter of the game, he organized the Montreal tournaments from 1989 to 2008, including three famous World Championships in 1996, 1998, and 2004. The 1996 edition was the first Worlds held outside the USA.
He also promotes the fun Brazilian game PETECA, which is kind of footbag but with the hands, using a colorful shuttlecock. He also considers himself one of the archivists of the game, as he filmed many footbag tournament finals. Some of that work appears on his Pro Kicker videos page, along with an opportunity to donate to the project. Some of his takes on those tournaments can also be found on Footbag Archives.
He is also promoting Mini Kick Volley, which is a smaller-court version of Footbag Net, with information also available on his Pro Kicker website.
Keep on kicking.
